Galaxy Cluster in Ursa Major
The redshifts of the galaxies in this cluster are in the range of z=0.08, which suggests that they are about 1 billlion light years away. .At this distance, these galaxies are so far that they appear very small and dim to us.The largest and brightest galaxies here are about magnitude 16, which means that it would take a very large telescope to see any of them through the eyepiece.
Rolling over the image gives the identification and location of more than 100 galaxies, some of which are so tiny they appear star-like at this resolution. Viewing the higher resolution images shows that they are indeed galaxies.
