Open Cluster in Cassiopeia

(Roll over image to see the figure outline.)

This large sprawling open cluster covers about 1 degree of sky. It is therefore best seen with binoculars or a telescope with a wide-field eyepiece. It is located just about 2 degrees north of the well-known Double Cluster in Perseus.
West is up in this picture so the stick figure stands roughly upright.

Some people say they do not see all the limbs of the muscleman shape, and some say he has no head. (The stars in the head region of the stick figure are admittedly not very bright.) As with many open clusters, the shape that you see depends not only on your telescope and optics but on how your eye and brain connect the dots.
