Planetary Nebula in Cygnus
At magnitude 12, this planetary nebula needs a medium to large telescope to see well. It has the appearance of a dim circle with a dark center. If its estimated distance is about right, the nebula is about 1 light year in diamter.
In most photographs, the nebula has a red or pink hue. The reddening may be due to dust clouds in between the nebula and us. The outside edge of the ring appears fairly smooth, but the inner edge has a jagged appearance, almost resembling spokes on a wheel.
